Brexit and EU citizens: experiences, concerns, and support needs. Report

December 10, 2018 @ 2:15 pm - 4:30 pm

free

How has the Brexit vote affected the lives of EU citizens living in Scotland? What challenges related to Brexit do they and those working with them currently face? To what extent are they aware of their rights post-Brexit? What support do EU citizens in Scotland need to deal with Brexit?

EU Citizens’ Rights Project invites you to the presentation of our preliminary report “Brexit and EU Citizens: experiences, concerns and support needs”, prepared by Dr. Paulina Trevena, an experienced researcher working on migration to Scotland, author of Attracting and retaining migrants in post-Brexit Scotland: is a social integration strategy the answer?, among others.

The report is based on our recent research project and our information and advice sessions for EU citizens in Scotland. Together with partner organisations, we have been running over the last few months a series of focus groups and community consultations with EU/EEA nationals and groups as well as organisations working with them. The aim was to identify the concerns and needs of EU27 citizens in Scotland in the period leading up to Brexit, and what support they might need throughout the Brexit process. During our event you will have the opportunity to offer feedback on the preliminary report and contribute to its final version.

During our event you will have the opportunity to offer feedback on the preliminary report and contribute to its final version. This will be an opportunity to hear about the research first-hand, network with organisations working with EU citizens and learn about possible ways of working with EU/EEA nationals during the Transition Period.

The research results will be published in a final report with recommendations for action for government, business, civic society, and EU27 citizens’ organisations in Scotland by 24 of December 2018.
