EU citizens and local government services in Scotland: a free webinar

This event on EU citizens’ rights is aimed at those who work in local government (elected members and officers). It will also be of value to those who support and advise EU citizens and groups using local government services. It will therefore also be relevant to many NGOs, EU citizens’ rights groups, community groups and other third sector organisations. This training will:

  • Outline briefly the overall scheme to give EU citizens’ rights in the UK after the end of the transitional period on 31 December 2020
  • Describe the future rights of EU citizens to access key public services in Scotland eg housing, benefits, education
  • Explain aspects of the settled status scheme of particular relevance to local government eg the position of children in care, and care leavers, and other vulnerable people.Information will be given about organisations which can provide advice and support on these issues, as well as links to relevant guidance, documents and websites.The speakers at this webinar are:Janey Armstrong, Solictor. Janey is a partner and expert in immigration law at Drummond Miller LLP

    Mark Lazarowicz, Advocate. Mark is an advocate with Terra Firma Chambers, Edinburgh. He has been involved in a number of cases concerning EU citizens and their rights, and also chairs the EU Citizens Rights Project.
