Temporary welfare rights adviser

The Citizens Rights Project is a Scottish charity, which works to support and advise EU citizens in Scotland. 

We are currently undertaking a project which will produce and disseminate information to those communities about key welfare benefits, particularly the new Scottish social security benefits, and universal credit. 

We are seeking to employ a person to research and write material for information leaflets, social media materials, and webpages about those welfare benefits. The material will be written in English, and the project will arrange for the material to be translated into various European languages, and distributed.  

The person employed will have a good knowledge of the welfare benefits system and the legislation on which it is based. Experience in advising clients on welfare benefits would also be advantage, as would be relevant academic or practical legal knowledge. The successful candidate must have the ability to produce materials which are accessible and easy to understand by the general public. 

We envisage that the person appointed would work on a part-time basis (21 hours per week) for approximately 10 weeks, at a weekly salary of £300 per week. However, there would be room for flexibility in these arrangements, including the possibility of completing the contract over a shorter or longer period, with appropriate flexibility in the hours worked each week. 

The successful candidate must have their own laptop/computer, and access to Internet. The project might be able to pay for some Internet and Working from Home expenses.
